Saildrone, a leader in ocean data collection, faced the intricate task of translating dense scientific material into a compelling narrative to secure substantial investment. The endeavor required a delicate balance, ensuring the profound vision of CEO Richard Jenkins was conveyed alongside the essential technical details, without compromising the integrity of either.

Assuming the role of Brand Designer and Creative Lead, my objective was to streamline the extensive material, establishing a clear and concise narrative that resonated with potential investors. The focus was on the legendary durability and precision of Saildrone’s drones, reflecting these attributes in unyielding visual and typographic designs. The resulting minimalistic layouts were devoid of superfluous elements, allowing the investors to concentrate on the significant opportunity Saildrone presented.

The collaboration involved close interactions with the CFO, CEO, and notable investors, including Haystack VC and Lux Capital. The process entailed refining the narrative and messaging, integrating cohesive typographic designs, layouts, and data visualizations, and meticulously selecting images that aligned with the brand’s ethos. These investor materials supported Saildrone in successfully securing over $100 million in investment.
